Californians in spirit, although from London's West End, Young Gun Silver Fox will visit us for the first time the 10th of May at Caprichos de Apolo.
On their first album "West End Coast" (2015), the band formed by the multi-instrumentalist and producer of artists like Jeff Buckley, Amy Winehouse or Lana Del Rey, Shawn Lee (Silver Fox), and the composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Andy Platts (Young Gun), formulated an updated version of the classic West Coast sound.
An approach that would later evolve and expand in both sound complexity and composition on "AM Waves" (2018) and "Canyons" (2020), where the duo intertwined serene and friendly funk, soft soul and soft rock that immortalise the golden era of the 70s.
However, "Ticket To Shangri-La" is much more than an act of nostalgia. This fourth and latest LP, released last October, is a laid-back, yet carefully crafted, showcase of warm pop-soul melodies in which the production expands on late 70s and early 80s R&B.
The ten new tracks include rich vocal harmonies, sophisticated horn section movements and sounds of a warmth that evokes all kinds of coastal atmospheres, or what could be the ideal soundtrack for the first day of summer holidays.
Young Gun Silver Fox are embarking on a European tour in 2023 to present the new album live, the same one that brings them to out own production concert series, Caprichos de Apolo.
Although a whole life dedicated to music separately, the chemistry and craftsmanship of Andy Platts and Shawn Lee in "Ticket To Shangri-La" fulfils its purpose and takes us on a trip to magical, mythical places, full of good feelings. A single ticket to the unique sound universe of these two talents who give the best of themselves creating together.
