The Haunted Youth

The Haunted Youth 's show is supported by Liveurope, the first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote European emerging artists. Liveurope is co-founded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.

It may be a little late to consider a name change for his project, but surely Joachim Liebens also feels that The Haunted Youth does not accurately define his sound. Rather than haunted, the youth Liebens speaks of seems to be trapped. Encapsulated. The two albums this Belgian musician has released to date are like a snapshot of the turbulent years leading up to adulthood. The slightly distorted tracks on Dawn of the Freak and Boys Cry Too swing between euphoria and anguish – that quintessentially youthful mix of emotions that also defines the sound of bands such as DIIV, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and Yumi Zouma.
