Baiuca is the project led by Alejandro Guillán from Catoire since 2017. In it, the borders between traditional Galician music and avant-garde electronics are not only blurred, but also impose a liquid space in which rhythms ranging from African tribalism, Latin American folk music, pop structures or the more experimental gaze They also find a place in the most international project that has emerged in Galicia in recent years.
After debuting with “Solpor” in 2018, the album became an instant classic and an iconic album fundamental to understanding the future not only of new Galician music, but also internationally in an album that imposes a new dialogue between traditions and generations. Less than a year later he published the EP “Misturas”, made from part of the repertoire of the revolutionary debut of Xosé Lois Romero & Aliboria; which would impose a live alliance with part of the musicians of Aliboria and with the visuals created by the prestigious video artist from Burel, Adrián Canoura.
In the last two years he has performed more than one hundred and fifty performances not only on the most prestigious stages and festivals in Spain, but has also visited countries such as Morocco, Mexico, France, Italy, Portugal and the United Kingdom.
The last two years he has collaborated with Carlangas (from Novedades Carminha), Nita (from Fuel Fandango), the British producer El Búho or the Portuguese HAĒMA; remixes for prestigious producers and projects such as the Ecuadorians Nicola Cruz, LaTorre and Mateo Kingman, the Argentines Chancha Vía Circuito, Lagartijeando and Kermesse, the Colombian Montoya or the Galicians Blanco Palamera; at the same time that he has ready what will be his next long album, which will be released in the first half of 2021.
