To understand the significance of Surfin' Bichos, we have to go back to the end of the 1980s when the Movida (Spanish cultural movement) was in its final stages.
The emergence of this band from Albacete changed everything: if their early works are considered masterpieces, it's because we're talking about unique, special albums that were in tune with their time while projecting into the future.
The Surfin' Bichos machine has not stopped during all this time, but in 2023, it starts again. And it does so with the original lineup, composed of Fernando Alfaro (vocals and guitars), Joaquín Pascual (guitars, piano, synthesizers, and more), José Manuel Mora (bass), and Carlos Cuevas (drums).
The bands are coming back to either exploit their legacy or to demonstrate that they can still contribute. Surfin' Bichos, who recently released their first album with new material in over three decades, "Más alla", it's clear which option they have chosen.
