Alfa Mist is a multi-instrumentalist, rapper, and producer from East London known for prioritizing emotion over perfectionism. Since his 2015 debut with Nocturne, he has established himself as one of the UK’s most distinctive and sought-after musical voices, collaborating with artists such as Jordan Rakei, Tom Misch, and Loyle Carner, as well as working with Blue Note Records, Ólafur Arnalds, and the London Contemporary Orchestra.
His style blends intimate production with large jazz arrangements, without being confined to a single genre. He grew up influenced by London grime and hip-hop, discovering jazz through producers like Madlib and J Dilla, which led him to teach himself piano.
In 2017, he released his acclaimed album Antiphon, followed by Structuralism (2019) and Bring Backs (2021), where he explored themes of identity, community, and cultural heritage. In 2022, he released Variables, a more energetic record influenced by his return to live performance, consolidating his international presence with sold-out tours in the U.S., London’s Barbican, and the Sydney Opera House.
His music is defined by introspection, the fusion of hip-hop, jazz, and neo-classical, and a live energy that has made Alfa Mist one of the most important figures in the contemporary scene.
