As if they were a political party or a trade union, one day Zac Sokolow, Jake Faulkner and Nicholas Baker decided to carry out their activity under an acronym that would identify them. LA LOM, aka The Los Angeles League of Musicians. And although the path of this Californian trio (or rather very Californian trio) officially began in the summer of 2022 with the release of their first EP, in fact, spiritually the history of LA LOM goes back six or seven decades. And their instrumental approach, close to that of Hermanos Gutiérrez, Pachyman and even Khruangbin, would have no raison d’être without all the songbook that built the mestizo musical identity of Los Angeles in the 50s and 60s. Listening to them is like tuning into a radio station lost in time.
LA LOM will present their first album, The Los Angeles League of Musicians, next autumn in Barcelona. Sokolow, Faulkner and Baker will bring their boleros, chichas and cumbias to Sala Apolo on 12th November as part of a tour of the Iberian Peninsula.
