La Gran Xefla de Fetus

As is tradition, La Gran Xefla de Fetus returns once again this December, with the band rounding off the year with a special concert packed with surprises and guest artists. This year, the line-up is extensive: an opening address by Manel Vidal, and appearances by Joan Garriga, Xantal Rodríguez (Remei de Ca la Fresca), Minibús Intergalàctic, Dan Peralbo i el Comboi, La Rauxa, Enyor, Romàntic Dimoni, Les Salvatges, Les Testarudes, and Quimet de Cal Boter.

Fetus arrive with their brand-new latest album *Romancer Tartera* under their belt. In this Catalonia where everything is going to pot, Fetus have set out to document everyday disasters in the style of the old balladeers. Following in the footsteps of the master Arnella, who has so brightly lit their path, and positioning themselves at the point where the legacy of The Clash meets that of La Trinca, they present us with “thirteen songs like thirteen rocks”—a collection of ballads which, with a raised fist and a cry to the wind, offer the songs we need to cling to when everything is going from bad to worse. Be it commuter trains, the rise of the far right, the decline in the use of Catalan, massive festivals overflowing with tourists, brunch restaurants or undercover police infiltrating social movements.

The core line-up of Fetus (Adrià Cortadellas, Telm Terradas and Adrià Jiménez) already included four outstanding musicians: Guille Caballero on keyboards, Carles Belda on the accordion; Ricard Ros on the sac de gemecs, flutes and bagpipes; and Marta Barbero on the violin. They are now joined on guitar by Joan Colomo, who is returning to the stage with them after many years and many albums spent producing the band in the studio.
