Absolute pioneers of roots reggae, The Abyssinians are one of Jamaica’s most influential vocal groups. Known for their spiritual harmonies and the strong presence of Rastafarian philosophy in their lyrics, the trio was formed in 1968 by Bernard Collins and brothers Donald and Lynford Manning. Their timeless anthem, “Satta Massagana”, sung partly in Ethiopian Amharic, became a cornerstone of the genre and a cultural symbol that crossed borders.
For this special event, they will share the stage with Big Youth, an essential figure in reggae and one of the most innovative DJs of the 1970s. After beginning his career improvising in Kingston sound systems, his vibrant style and unmistakable voice led him to redefine the Jamaican “toaster” role and influence entire generations.
A night to celebrate the deepest essence of classic reggae.
