Aware that they were about to embark on a career destined to live in an endless golden hour, guitarist John Pita and percussionist Zach Para didn’t hesitate when, in 2011, the time came to name their musical project: City of the Sun. Shortly afterwards, with the addition of bassist Matt Fasano and guitarist Marco Bolfelli, the New York quartet officially established itself not only as a band but also as an instant generator of memories you haven’t even experienced yet: the evocative power of their instrumental flamenco-blues transcends even the real-life experiences of those who listen to it.
City of the Sun have perfected this kind of musical superpower – which makes them close relatives of Hermanos Gutiérrez and distant cousins of Khruangbin and BALTHVS – on Under the Moon, their latest album, produced by the renowned Phil Ek.
