Caprichos de Apolo & Sordina present: Barcelona Piano Day

Barcelona Piano Day - 3rd April 2024

Apolo allies with the Sordina concert series, coordinated by Jaume del Adarve and Sol de Sants, to celebrate Barcelona Piano Day, a worldwide event created on 2015 by the prestigious German composer Nils Frahm that vindicates this instrument and, above all, the musicians who bring it to life.

► La (3) de Apolo will host the talk "The art of Alicia de Larrocha" by Mònica Pagès; and concerts by the composer and pianist from Cordoba Jaume del Adarve and the Icelandic post-classical composer Eydís Evensen.

► At La (2) de Apolo will take place the concert of the Catalan pianist, singer and composer Marina Herlop within the emblematic own production concert series Caprichos de Apolo.

Conference 'The art of Alicia de Larrocha' with Mònica Pagès

Alicia de Larrocha (Barcelona, 1923) was an exceptional pianist, with a great artistic career of more than seventy years that began when she was still a child and evolved with the help of the masters Enrique Granados and Frank Marshall. Larrocha had a great international projection with more than four thousand concerts all over the world in orchestras of great prestige.

At Barcelona Piano Day we want to commemorate her figure and career with a talk by the cultural journalist specialized in classical music Mònica Pagès.

Jaime del Adarve

The composer and pianist Jaime del Adarve, stage name of Jaime Bermúdez Escamilla (Córdoba, 1988), intertwines neoclassical and cinematic pieces in his two EPs, "Nieve" (2023) and "Las Horas" (2024). For his first LP "Montañas y Antenas" he presents a multidisciplinary show that goes through classical, post-rock and folk music accompanied by poetry that allows to explain the compositions.

Eydís Evensen

Each note of the Icelandic Eydís Evensen contains the sensitivity and the precise delicacy to convey the joy, sadness and despair for which they have been created. A post-classical pianist and singer, in 2021 she released the debut album "Bylur", which means 'storm' in Icelandic, where she shows the ups and downs and all the nuances of twenty years of her life. The EP "Frost" (2022) established her reputation and the album "The Light" (2023) has meant a personal growth and an expansion of her musical wings.

Eydís Evensen's performance is supported by Liveurope, the first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote European emerging artists. Liveurope is co-founded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.

Marina Herlop

Intense, with an adventurous spirit and rhythmic elegance, the Catalan composer, pianist and producer Marina Herlop presents her fourth album "Nekkuja" (2023) at Caprichos de Apolo, a new work where she searches for her inner light through instrumental ornaments, electronic sounds and her sweet and warm voice.
